Where most businesses are
Sometimes you don't need more marketing. You need better direction.
Most of the businesses I talk to aren't starting from nothing. They already have plenty going on.
- Ideas
- Marketing activity
- Someone doing the marketing
- A website
- Social channels
- A strategy connecting all of it
What's usually missing is the thinking that ties it together. Why are we doing this? Who is it for? What should we stop doing so we can do the important things properly?
I come in, get to know how the business actually works, and work out what's missing. Then I build the structure you need to move forward, whether that's a clearer brand, a marketing plan people will actually use, or a marketer who finally has the direction they've been asking for.
How I can help
Three ways to work together
- 01 Marketing Team Development Build the strategy, systems and confidence behind the person already doing your marketing.
- 02 Brand Strategy & Rebrands Strategy, positioning and creative direction through to a brand that's actually usable.
- 03 Marketing, SEO & AEO Strategy Understand where you're currently sitting, where the opportunities are and what deserves attention next.
For businesses with an in-house marketer
Your junior marketer shouldn't have to figure everything out alone.
You've hired someone good. They're capable, keen and they know how to get things done.
But they're also being asked to decide the strategy, choose the priorities, build the systems and work out what "good marketing" looks like, all while they're still learning themselves. That's a lot to put on one person, and it's usually why marketing feels busy without really going anywhere.
That's where I come in. I work alongside your marketer, not instead of them. You get experienced marketing direction without committing to another full-time senior hire, and your marketer gets someone in their corner who has done the job.
I look at what's happening now. What your marketer spends their week on, what's working, what's being done out of habit, and where the gaps are in skills, tools and priorities.
We agree on what marketing needs to achieve for the business, who it's for and what matters most over the next 90 days. Your marketer is part of building it, so they understand the reasoning and not just the plan.
Workflows, templates, SOPs, a project management setup and a simple reporting rhythm. The boring structure that stops good work depending on someone's memory.
Targeted training on the areas that will make the biggest difference for your business, whether that's briefing, campaign planning, SEO basics, brand consistency or reporting that means something.
Regular one-on-one time. Reviewing work, talking through decisions, giving honest feedback and helping your marketer think like a senior marketer before they have the title.
A handover plan, agreed from the start. The aim is a marketing function that runs well without me, with me available for senior guidance when you actually need it.
Experience
I've worked across both sides of marketing.
My background spans design, brand, marketing and strategy, across freelance work, agency collaboration and years spent inside an in-house marketing team.
That mix matters. I've been the person making the work, the person briefing it, the person managing outside specialists and the person responsible for deciding what actually deserves the team's attention.
It means I don't look at brand, content, search, campaigns or your marketing team as separate pieces. I look at how they work together, and where they're getting in each other's way.
Businesses I've worked with
Selected work
Projects, with the business context left in
Every project here started with a business problem. The case studies explain what that problem was, what I was responsible for and what changed.
Building a marketing function inside a growing trade business
SOPs, playbooks, reporting and a trained team behind a business that grew to 130+ staff.
Colin: how a company mascot became a brand system
How an existing mascot became a flexible brand asset used on vehicles, activities, merchandise and more.
Building an in-house search strategy across SEO, local search & AEO
Auditing the site, mapping search intent, local search and customer-led content, with AEO and paid search connected.
A website rebuild that kept up with a changing business
Leading the rebuild internally: site structure, every page of copy and creative direction, then 786 pages kept current.
Kind words
She worked with us to get clearer on priorities, who was responsible for what and how to keep things moving. When there were lots of competing tasks, she was good at breaking things down and helping the team work out where to focus.
Aisha worked under our Brand Manager on social media planning, emailing networks, detailing blogs and editing copy for interviews with collaborative designers. … She demonstrated great organisation skills, motivation and a willingness to be a keen team player.

DesignMarketingBrandStrategy
I started out in graphic design, but I was always more interested in the thinking behind the work. Why this message? Why this audience? Why this channel? What are we actually trying to achieve?
That curiosity pulled me further into marketing, then brand, and eventually into the bigger strategic decisions behind both.
I've since spent years working inside growing businesses, so I understand the difference between a strategy that looks good in a presentation and one a team can actually use. That's the perspective I bring to my work now: creative enough to understand how it should come to life, strategic enough to know why we're doing it in the first place.
